The first Principal, Professor R.L. Pudney, was appointed in 1887 and established Longerenong College as the second Government Agricultural College, opening in 1889.
1890s
The first Longerenong College student and one of our first graduates, James A McMurtrie, received his Diploma on 30 January 1891.
1900s

1940s
During the Second World War, a group of women trained at Longerenong during August 1941. A two week course was provided for Women’s Land Army during the College vacation.
1950s
Total wheat yield was 19,248 bushels and the average yield 48.24 bushels per acre, a record average for the College.

With the expansion of qualifications, our apprenticeship program grew with farm and school-based options for students.
2020s
Victorian Government funds a $6.5 million accommodation project at Longerenong College, including three seven bedroom houses and three four bedroom houses, along with a conference facility in the middle of the complex. The first stage of the project was completed in 2023.
