Commercial Farm

The Longerenong College 1100-hectare farm is a mix of enterprises with approximately 650 hectares sown to commercial broad-acre crops each year and the remainder used for grazing by our 1000 sheep and 40 cattle.

A total of 200 devices, 500 digital sensors/nodes and 30,000 data points collected daily from the Longerenong College Farm create our DATA Farm. Students have access to our Innovation Centre for an immersive, interactive and commercially viable display of technologies. The analysis of this data is expected to yield ground-breaking insights into advanced technologies and provide a valuable resource for agricultural researchers.

Data monitoring include Soil Moisture Probes, Water Flow Meter, Water Tank Level, Rain Monitoring, Gate Monitoring, Tilt Float Monitoring (Troughs), Inline Pressure Monitoring, Leaf Wetness Monitoring, Temperature Monitoring, Temperature Inversion Towers, pH Monitoring, EC Monitoring, Retroreflective Monitor (Vehicle Sensor), Electric Fence Monitoring, Weather Stations, Basestation Network Connectivity, Asset Tracking, Hay Monitoring, Frost Detection Monitoring, Hay Baling Sensor, Antares Gateway.
