OVERVIEW
The apprenticeship/traineeship program provides practical training in farming operations along with the underpinning theoretical knowledge necessary for individuals involved in broadacre cropping and livestock related industries. Participants undertake formalised training at Longerenong College while working in the industry or continuing at secondary school.
Longerenong College offers AHC30122 Certificate III in Agriculture and AHC40122 Certificate IV in Agriculture.
AHC31022 Certificate III in Agriculture may be offered as a School Based Apprenticeship/Traineeship (SBAT) program which allows students to undertake an apprenticeship/traineeship while still completing Years 10, 11 or 12 at school.

How is the Training Program delivered?
AHC30122 Certificate III in Agriculture and AHC40122 Certificate IV in Agriculture combine full time paid work on the farm with ‘off the job’ training at Longerenong College. The ‘off the job’ training component comprises of week long training blocks conducted at Longerenong College throughout the year. The blocks involve four to five days of intense theoretical and practical training which is then reinforced in the workplace. Some assessment is also undertaken in the workplace.

Can I get recognition for previous study/experience?
Credit Transfer (CT)
Longerenong College recognises all Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) qualifications and statements of attainments issued by other training providers. A student may apply to have a unit of competency recognised by Longerenong College if the unit code and title exactly matches the unit of competency for which recognition is being sought; or if the unit of competency held is superseded and equivalent to the current unit of competency.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Longerenong College recognises that people learn and acquire skills and knowledge in ways other than just formal study or current training. A person may acquire skills relevant to the work situation through non-accredited training courses, workplace training, hobbies, interests and life experience. Sometimes the skills and knowledge acquired in these ways can be applied to the current workplace tasks and roles a person is performing. The RPL process measures these previously acquired skills and knowledge against unit/s of competency.
Students can apply for Recognition of Prior Learning or Credit Transfer as part of the Enrolment Process. Longerenong College verify the evidence provided by prospective students applying for Recognition of Prior Learning.
