For Siale Pitson, agriculture was never just a job—it was a calling. Growing up on a sheep and cropping farm in Bagshot, north of Bendigo, Siale always knew she wanted a future in the industry. But she also knew that to turn her passion into a career, she needed the right skills, knowledge, and connections.
That’s where Longerenong College came in.
In 2024, Siale enrolled at Longy for a one-year program, completing ADAM (advanced Diploma of Agribusiness Management) and Advanced Diploma of Agronomy courses. “I chose Longerenong because of word of mouth, the chance to meet like-minded people, and the opportunity to add skills and education to improve job prospects,” she says.
And it worked. Just months after graduating, Siale joined Nutrien Ag Solutions, one of Australia’s leading agricultural businesses. Her role as a Livestock Agent now takes her across Hay, Deniliquin, and Finley, where she works with experienced stock agents and builds strong relationships with clients. “Longy gave me the confidence to move interstate for a job offer and opened up a whole horizon of knowledge about the business side of agriculture,” she explains.
But for Siale, the benefits of Longerenong go beyond career success. “I met lifelong best friends at Longy. We still attend events together, have regular catch-ups, and share countless phone calls despite the distance. I even share a house with a friend I met at Longy—crazy to think 18 months ago we didn’t even know each other!”
Her passion for livestock and her drive to inspire other young women in agriculture keep her motivated every day. And her advice for anyone considering Longerenong?
“Do it. You’ll make lifelong friends, build contacts, and create so many memories.”

For current students, her message is simple:
“Make the most of it—it goes by too fast. Soon you’ll be out in the real world wishing you were back at Longy socialising with minimal responsibilities.”
And for graduates entering the workforce:
“Follow your passions, build relationships, and go for it. Learn everything you can and soak it all in.”
Siale’s journey proves that with the right education and attitude, the opportunities in agriculture are endless. If you’re ready to take the next step toward your future in agriculture, Longerenong College is the place to start.
