What supports are available for students?
Longerenong College students have access to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), a confidential service provided independently to Longerenong College. When students access the EAP they can speak with a qualified, experienced counsellor across a range of issues including:
- Academic and personal stress
- Life changes
- Personal relationships
- Emotional difficulties
- Communication and relationship tension, conflict and breakdown
- Grief and loss
- Sleep and fatigue
- Gambling, drug, alcohol and other addictions
- Anger and violence.
Longerenong College also have an on-site Longerenong Student Association (LSA). If students are confused, overwhelmed, or just need someone to talk to about academic or financial concerns, our LSA is available around the clock. Confidential appointments can be made directly with our residential supervisor. Our LSA can also provide confidential and on referral support to our network of local services such as headspace, Grampians Community Health and Grampians Health. Our LSA undertake mental health first aid training to support the student group.

What does a typical day look like at Longerenong College?
Depending on the qualification(s) you are enrolled in, days have been allocated to each program. In 2026, Monday and Tuesday are full day sessions of the AHC40122 Certificate IV in Agriculture or the AHC60319 Advanced Diploma of Agribusiness Management, Thursday and Friday are full day sessions in AHC41325 Certificate IV in Wool Classing and AHC51920 Diploma of Applied Agronomy, Wednesdays are for study and some additional optional non-accredited classes and activities and Fee for Service Short Course days.
If you enrol in two courses per year, you will have four days of face-to-face classes. Each day of classes will be a mix of lectures, group work, going into the field or working with animals in the yards. Every day you need to come to classes with your laptop computer, and your work boots.

Are there any specific prerequisites for admission into your courses?
Students must be over 18 (or turning 18 the year of commencement). Prior to enrolment you will be sent an electronic test called the LLN. This measures your language, literacy and numeracy. This provides a measure of the level of program you should start your study journey in. It may be level II, level III or a level IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma Certificate depending on your current learning levels.

When do applications for the upcoming academic year close?
For the 2026 study year we will be accepting students until January 31, 2026. If you are an applicant later than this, please call the office to discuss further on (03) 5362 2222.
When can I expect to receive notification regarding the status of my application?
A phone call or email is usually made within a week of receiving the “apply now” application. From there the LLN tests are sent to applicants within two weeks. once LLNs are completed, Interviews times and availability are sent to be booked. You will usually be given a verbal acceptance at the end of the interview, and the start date for O-week. Further paperwork is emailed in January.
Do you admit International students?
Longerenong College are not currently taking International students.
When is your annual Open Day?
Our Open Day is usually held the second Sunday of August, our website will be updated with more details closer to the date.
Are there any opportunities for work placements during the course of study?
We encourage students to arrange work placements during term breaks and over the Summer break. We have businesses that regularly offer placement to Longerenong students we can assist in contacting.
Are there clear pathways to employment once I have completed my course?
One of our mantras at Longerenong College is “Longy students get jobs”. There are numerous career pathways for Longerenong College students and most of our students walk straight into well-paying jobs when they have completed their study.
fees and payments
Do you offer payment plans or options to help with tuition fees?
Students can set up a payment plan with the Skillinvest finance team, to pay for their year of study and accommodation and meals, over the study year. There are also some student loans available for the course fees. for information please contact the Skillinvest finance team.
In addition to tuition and residential fees, what other supplementary fees should I anticipate while living on campus?
Four evening meals and five breakfasts are included in the accommodation/meals fee, additional food costs, grocery shopping and cooking are the student’s responsibility. Transport, mobile phone bills, entertainment etc are all the responsibility the student.
Washing machines free but dryers are coin operated, and laundry is the student’s responsibility.
Accommodation costs include all utilities and internet.

Are there any scholarship opportunities available for students?
Yes. Our Scholarship Program allows students the opportunity to access financial assistance which will help with tuition or residential fees. Scholarships provide opportunities to engage with your sponsoring organisation, placement within industry and be involved in College network opportunities. Scholarship applications are open now for 2026. Applications close Dec 31, 2025.
What is the process to apply for a scholarship and when can I apply?
The application process involves submitting a resume, two references, a questionnaire, and, if selected, attending an in-person interview. All information is on the Scholarship page of this website.
What are the applicant requirements for a scholarship?
During the interview, you will be expected to articulate the reasons why you should be the recipient of the scholarship.
The selection panel will assess various factors, with a primary focus on the eligibility and selection criteria outlined on each individual scholarship on the scholarship page of this website.
student accommodation
How are meals provided to students living on campus?
Our cafeteria is open Monday to Friday 12 – 1:00pm to purchase lunch during the school terms. With on-site catering Eat@ provides students with nutritious and healthy meals. Residential accommodation packages include continental breakfast Monday to Friday and evening meal Monday to Thursday. Meals are not provided on weekends, public holidays or school holidays. Dietary requirements are available upon request.
The cafeteria has EFTPOS facilities
Is it possible to bring my horse on campus while I am boarding?
Full-time students can keep their horse on-campus. Our facility consists of 9 paddocks, 6 of which contain a fully enclosed shelter, providing all-year weather protection for horses. Lodging is upon application and cost is $22 per week for each horse. If we receive applications for 6 or more horses, priority will be given to those that are regularly ridden by their owner.
What will my accommodation be like? Will I have to share a room with another student?
Students are not required to share a room. All our rooms are single rooms equipped with essential furnishings: bed and mattress, study desk, chair, lighting power outlets, bar fridge and air-conditioning/heating. Students share amenities such as bathrooms, kitchenettes and lounges – offering a balance of privacy and shared spaces.
What kind of supervision and support is in place for students living on campus?
As this is an adult education facility, the accommodation is treated much like an apartment building. There are noise curfews, and rules on external visitors.
Are there specific policies regarding the consumption of alcohol on campus?
There are a range of rules and regulations regarding consumption of alcohol on Longerenong College premises which includes dry areas. This is an adult education facility, and all laws apply to legal drinking age and laws on public intoxication etc. More information will be provided to students at the beginning of their Longerenong College journey.
