APPRENTICES & TRAINEES

Agriculture apprenticeships and traineeships are suitable for individuals wishing to pursue a career in agriculture including:  

  • School leavers  
  • Career changers  
  • People already working in agriculture, looking to upskill or seeking formal qualifications  
  • Secondary Students wanting to undertake a School-Based Apprenticeship or Traineeship  

If you want to begin a career in agriculture as an apprentice or trainee but don’t yet have an employer, you have the following options:  

SKILLINVEST

Skillinvest is a Group Training Organisation (GTO) that can help you find a suitable host employer and support you throughout your apprenticeship or traineeship journey.  

Once placed with a host employer, your formal training is delivered through Longerenong College.  Longerenong College is a training arm and trading name of Skillinvest. 

Skillinvest:  

  • Acts as your employer, handling your wage, superannuation, PPE and more  
  • Matches you with a host employer  where you will gain on-the-job experience 
  • Provides ongoing mentorship and support  
  • Can help you enrol in your training with Longerenong College  

 If you are still in school and wanting to start your agriculture training while completing school, Skillinvest can work with your school to provide the opportunity to undertake a School-Based Apprenticeship or Traineeship (SBAT) in Agriculture.

AUSTRALIAN APPRENTICESHIP SUPPORT NETWORK (AASN)

If you do not have an employer and you would like to engage a GTO other than Skillinvest Australian Apprenticeships Support Network can assist with:  

  • Understanding GTO options  
  • Engaging a GTO  
  • Apprenticeship and traineeship setup  

If you do have an employer Longerenong College can work alongside you and your employer or the Australian Apprenticeships Support Network to enrol you in your training.
